The file linked here will tell you what you need to do.
In summary, you need to convince us that your are a force free instructor, and by that we mean trainers that are educated and knowledgeable about modern, force free training methods.
You need to document how you keep your knowledge up to date, and you need to give us references and documents so we can verify what you tell us.
You need to take the Gundog Club’s G4 and achieve a merit or above to teach the foundation grades, and G5 and achieve a merit or above to teach all grades. We think it is important that instructors that are teaching the grades, have experience of taking them.
Finally, you need a minimum of 3 years coaching experience – teaching people to train dogs – to be a foundation instructor, and 5 years for a full instructor.
The Gundog Club is not a professional standards organisation – we are a charity that works to improve the welfare of gundog breeds and one of the ways that we do that is to funnel new owners into force free training. To this end, we are free for instructors to join. We make no money from accrediting instructors. You can’t pay to join the Gundog Club. You are accepted only if you meet our criteria, which we think gives students confidence that our instructors are people who we would take our own dogs to see.
If you think you do meet our criteria, we’d love to hear from you.
