Somerset Gundog Trainer: Sue Watkins

Sue lives on the beautiful Somerset Levels with her family and dogs – Labradors and a Working Cocker Spaniel.

Her earliest memory is of being a toddler and being surrounded by a litter of Labrador puppies, bred by her parents. Her passion for dogs was ignited and has remained with her ever since.

Training approach

Sue’s classes are fun for both the dog and the owner. The training is not prescriptive but has an emphasises on your dog learning to learn and giving you the tools to train your dog.

She takes particular pleasure in watching dogs and their owners progress their relationship, developing a bond, building their confidence and learning using positive, force free, science-based training methods.

Gundog experience

Sue has worked dogs picking up on shoots for many years, and she competes occasionally in working tests.

Particular breed knowledge

Sue trains and works her own Labradors, she has extensive experience of sight hounds from previous experience working for a specialist rescue centre. She is happy to work with any breed of dog.
