Most students take Field Tests organised in a group with other students at the end of a course. But if you are training alone, or in 121s with an instructor, then you may wish to arrange a Field Test just for you and your dog.
Any instructor may assess you for a Field Test, providing that instructor has not trained you or your dog in the last year.
So to book a Field Test you first need to find an instructor to act as an assessor in an area that suits you in terms of travel. Please remember that it won’t always be convenient for every instructor to hold just one assessment for one student, so you may have to be prepared to try a couple of instructors before you find one to act as an assessor. Also, for the higher grades, not all instructors have water available or suitable ground.
All the instructors are listed on our website, just go to the title Instructors on the menu bar.
You can use the contact forms to ask about assessments.
Once you have a confirmed date for your test email admin@thegundogclub.co.uk and let us know.
You must allow enough time for us to send out scoresheets, certificates and rosettes etc. to the assessor. While we will always try to get these out at short notice, it’s best to tell us at least a couple of weeks before your test – sometimes things do go missing in the post, and we like to have plenty of time to resend material to the assessor if this happens.
We sometimes organise set days to take tests – for example in 2017, delegates attending the Positive Gundog conference may take tests at the conference, and we sometimes advertise free slots on days organised by instructors for their students. When we have these opportunities available, we promote them on the website and in the Facebook group.
