  • Panellists are all experienced gundog trainers and have a wide range of other interests.

  • There are dedicated specialist advisors for each of the three categories of gundog work. currently covered by the graded training scheme.

  • Panellists are drawn from all corners of the United Kingdom

GRADED TRAINING

Tony Casserly

Tony’s training experience stretches back over many years.  He became a KC panel judge in the 1970s and has judged extensively over the last 30 years,  not only in the UK but also in Austria, France, Germany, Italy and the USA. Now retired from the Kent police Tony is able to spend more time building on his already successful Force Green Kennels.     Tony is an A panel retriever judge and the most senior member of our retriever panel.   Tony is happy to be contacted by email  kennels@forcegreen.co.uk

 

Andrew Robinson

Andrew’s kennel Whaupley Gundogs is situated in the Yorkshire Dales. Specialising in Cocker Spaniels Andrew has qualified dogs for the 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2006 British Cocker Spaniel Championships. In 2001, he gained the Guns Choice with FTCH Maesydderwen Soloman. In 2004 he gained a Diploma of Merit with FTCH Whaupley Reiver. Andrew’s affix is Whaupley and he is on the A Panel of Kennel Club Spaniel Judges.

Peter Burton

An experienced spaniel and retriever trainer,  Peter,  owner of Saxaphone Gundogs has competed for England and achieved success with both breeds. Peter is one of only a handful of people to have competed in the IGL Labrador Championship, the AV Spaniel Championship and the Cocker Spaniel Championship.  Peter is a B panel judge for the Kennel Club.   Peters kennels are located in County Durham.  To visit Saxaphone Gundogs  click here

Nick Coates

An experienced retriever trainer,  Nick owns Gospel Ash gundogs in Wiltshire.  Nick specialises in Labradors and Golden Retrievers, and in addition to his UK judging appointments, he has also judged abroad.

Annie Wales

Bruce Ross-Smith

Based in Devon, Bruce breeds and trains Golden Retrievers at his Canburne Kennels.  In addition to training and judging gundogs in the field,  Bruce is also a BASC shotgun coach and a web designer.

Steve Kimberley

Tony Russell

Tony Russell is an A Panel HPR Field Trial Judge and has trained and trialed German Shorthaired Pointers for over 25 years.   He now runs a training and boarding kennels in East Sussex together with a HPR shoot on the Ashdown Forest.  Tony  also trains spaniels and retrievers holding classes both for groups and individuals

 

Rory Major

Rory has been involved with Gundogs all of his adult life as well as regularly 'picking up' and 'beating' with his dogs on several shoots, he also works his dogs for Falconers and has competed successfully in Field Trials. Most notably, he has owned, trained and made-up the first and only German Wirehaired Pointer Field Trial Champion to date, FTCh Velia Von Andesheim, as well as owning and training the only two G.W.P's to win awards in the Championships. Bill Beckett

Better known to many as Nimrod,  photo journalist Bill is an experienced shooting man and gundog handler, and has written for many top sporting publications.  Based in Northern Ireland Bill runs the National Countrysports Fair, Ireland's national game fair and is a long time member of the Scottish Association for Country Sports.  Bill is passionate about supporting novice gundog trainers in his native Ireland and abroad.

 

Martin Deeley

Now resident in the USA,  Martin is a  well known commentator, journalist and experienced dog trainer. He is the author of several best selling gundog training books, and the popular presenter of  the acclaimed spaniel training videos  produced together with Ian Openshaw.  Martin runs workshops and seminars throughout Europe and the USA and runs in both AKC and UKC tests in America where he has titled all his dogs  To visit Martin's website click here

Christine Bridgwater

Christine has trained and bred working gundogs of various breeds for over twenty-five years.  Christine is the Secretary and Treasurer of The Meon Valley Working Spaniel Club (since 1988) is a member of the Kennel Club Field Trials Council and has served on several other Club committees helping with their Trials as well as, usually, running ten per season for the Meon Valley.    http://www.meonvalley.org.uk

She takes out up to twenty dogs picking up and has regularly demonstrated at the CLA and other Game Fairs. Christine is a  UK Kennel Club Judge ( B Panel) she has also judged in Europe for other organisations such as The Danish Field Trial Association, The Swedish Clumber Spaniel Club and FITASC's Spanish Spaniel and Pointer Trial Association.
