Criminals are targeting
dog breeders in UK and elsewhere with their
'overpayment scam' and other similar scams.
Typically the thieves will contact a breeder under
the pre-text of purchasing a puppy. After
gaining the breeder's trust, they will then send a
deposit and make large overpayment.
A few trusting breeders have refunded the
difference to the thieves who then disappear before
the dog owner discovers that the buyer's cheque has
bounced. |

There are other scams
some aimed at would be purchasers of puppies.
Please take care when
buying puppies from or selling puppies to strangers.
Read
the guidelines before purchasing a puppy. Never
give out your personal or financial details, or send
money to an unverified breeder in advance.
