For the first time since Lottie arrived in our lives, we awoke to our alarm clock at six this morning.  Lottie had slept for seven hours without making a sound.  Bliss.  What a helpful puppy!

The last few days have seen Lottie much cleaner indoors.  Just a few puddles.

She has also had several trips to the office and met a variety of different people,  including her first 'bearded man'.

It is rather annoying having to wait for this second vaccination before putting the pup down on the ground both because she is becoming quite heavy, and because it is so restricting.  I sometimes wonder about the logic of the wait,  as even our own garden ( as do many gardens, even city ones) has foxes crossing it (and probably urinating in it ) during the night.  But of course the consequences of a serious infection however unlikely are too unpleasant to contemplate

First retrieve of a dummy

Earlier in the week, on a couple of occasions Lottie  has barked when attempting to entice the older dogs to play, we have responded with a firm 'no'  and removal of the playmate. She has also barked a couple of times when someone she doesn't know has come in to the garden,  but stops immediately when told 'no' and is happy to be introduced.  Apart from this she is now absolutely silent all day and night.

Obviously this may change and we will need to be vigilant,  but it is a nice start.

The recalls are coming along nicely.  I am still regularly ( 20 or so times each day) calling Lottie's name as she runs towards me and rewarding her with cuddles and kibble when she arrives,  but in addition,  I am now starting to call her name just occasionally when she is not already starting to come towards me.  So far she has galloped to find me each time.

I would not do this if she were engrossed in something interesting, but wait until she seems fairly unoccupied.

In just a week Lottie has grown tremendously both in confidence and in size.

I wonder what another week will bring...

I decided to throw the dummy

After two successful retrieves of the tennis ball yesterday, I decided to throw this tennis ball fabric dummy for Lottie today.

She held it a little awkwardly the first time above right, but carried it nicely in the centre the second time (below)

I am really pleased with this, and especially with Lottie's keeness to race out after the dummy. I certainly couldn't have hoped for more at this age.
