CAROWAY CHESAPEAKES

The last few days have seen Lottie increasingly settled in her new home.   She has met many admiring visitors, is now a seasoned car traveller,  and enjoyed lots of attention yesterday evening as we held  a barbecue to welcome my younger daughter home from university for the summer.

Earlier in the day,  collecting Lucy from the station was another opportunity for the puppy to accept new faces,  and all the strange sounds and sights of trains and of the station itself.  She also met a toddler in a pushchair which was something I had been hoping for.

Our whole family is enjoying this little dog.  She is perhaps less ebullient than a labrador puppy, a little more serious, but with her own character now coming through.

She is quite content to be left alone for a while whilst we are busy, and no longer sleeps in the small crate in my office whilst I work. She remains in the kitchen with her crate door and the garden door open so that she can go in and out as she pleases.

Tomorrow Lottie will be nine weeks old.  How quickly  time passes.

Lottie's strong natural retrieving instinct is really showing itself now.  She picks up and carries anything she can find,  proudly strutting around with a shoe or her dinner bowl whilst we all tell her how clever she is.   The photo  far right was taken this morning as she helped us clear up after last nights barbecue.

The puppy is also now beginning to leave fewer puddles in the house.  Making the effort to take herself outside ninety percent of the time.  The  glorious weather has  meant we can leave the doors open until late at night which has been a great help.

Each time her name is called Lottie comes racing to find me and I am now just occasionally omitting the food treat.  She very much enjoys being fussed and cuddled which is helpful.
